Crawling and indexing
Robots rules, noindex tags, canonicals, sitemap accuracy, and status codes. Real 404s stay 404s. Moved pages use a single permanent redirect, not a chain.
Kansas City, Missouri (KCMO) & the KC metro
Thomas KC IT fixes the technical reasons a small-business website is hard for search engines to crawl and understand: broken redirects, duplicate URLs, accidental noindex tags, slow pages, and structured data that does not match the visible page. Local listing work lives on the local SEO page.
Local technology help
A page can be well written and still invisible if the canonical tag points at the wrong URL, the sitemap lists redirects, or the text only appears after JavaScript that a crawler never runs. Technical SEO is that class of problem.
Thomas KC IT works on the sites we can access. We report what is wrong, what we changed, and what still depends on hosting, a third-party platform, or content only you can confirm. We do not guarantee indexation or a position.
Thomas KC IT services
The audit follows the live site, not a generic score from a plugin.
Robots rules, noindex tags, canonicals, sitemap accuracy, and status codes. Real 404s stay 404s. Moved pages use a single permanent redirect, not a chain.
One clear title and H1, descriptive internal links, and text that exists in the HTML. Keyword stuffing is not a technical fix.
Images, caching, and layout stability where they affect the page, plus JSON-LD that matches visible content and does not invent reviews or addresses.
How we approach the job
An endless audit is less useful than a short list of changes that can be deployed.
We first learn enough to understand the request, then explain the proposed scope and expected cost before the agreed work begins. Website, consulting, and automation projects depend on the requirements, integrations, and ongoing responsibilities involved.
Before leaving a device with us or approving work, read the Thomas KC IT Service Terms & Repair Disclaimer, and back up anything you cannot afford to lose. Leaving the device after receiving notice of the terms and authorizing the agreed work means you accept them for that job.
We look at the canonical host, trailing slashes, and the pages you think are important.
Redirects, duplicates, metadata, and markup errors come before cosmetic rewrites.
Search Console and Bing Webmaster verification, if you have not done them, stay on your accounts. We do not pretend those logins were completed.
In-depth IT help
These are the checks Thomas KC IT expects to be true on a site we call finished. They are also the checks we look for on a client site.
HTTP should redirect to HTTPS once. www and non-www should resolve to the host you chose. Trailing slashes should not create a second copy. The canonical tag should be the URL you want indexed, and the sitemap should list that URL only.
Redirect chains waste crawl attention. If a page moved, point the old URL directly at the final URL.
The service description, phone number, and area served should be in the HTML response, not only inside an image or a widget that runs after load. Titles and meta descriptions should be unique and written for the page’s intent.
Structured data should use a type you can defend. A motorcycle shop is not an IT company. A service-area business does not get a made-up street address.
Hero images that are the largest element should be sized and prioritized. Everything else can wait. Fonts and CSS should not block the first text if a simpler approach works.
We would rather remove a library than add a performance plugin to compensate for it.
Kansas City metro
Thomas KC IT builds and repairs sites for local businesses, so technical SEO is tied to a deployment we can stand behind, not a slide deck. The work is remote once we have access.
Pair this page with website management if you need ongoing edits, or with local SEO if the listings and service-area copy are the actual gap.
Common questions
On-page SEO is the visible page: titles, headings, and copy that match the service. Technical SEO is whether that page can be fetched, indexed, and interpreted, including speed and structured data. Thomas KC IT treats them as one implementation job when we control the site, and says so when a platform blocks the fix.
No. We reduce obvious weight, such as oversized images and unnecessary scripts, and we check the result. A third-party widget or host can still dominate the measurement.
Often yes. If the template cannot express clean URLs, unique titles, or server-rendered text, a rebuild may be the technical fix. We will say that before starting a long patch.
No. A plugin can emit tags, but the tags still have to be true and the pages still have to be worth indexing. We edit the site to match the intent instead of stacking plugins.
Send the device, network, website, or workflow involved, what you need to change, and anything you have already tried. We will let you know whether the job is a fit.
